SUMMARY:Traveling Medicine Show
DESCRIPTION:Traveling Medicine Shows\nThe days of the old time traveling medicine shows seem a distant memory. Join us at the Pikes\nPeak Historical Society May Chautauqua for a glimpse into some of the history surrounding this\nera of American merchandising and entertainment. Find out more about “snake oil” and\nintriguing patent remedies\, all touting to “cure what ails you.” Surprisingly\, some are still on the\nmarket today! Kathy Herrin will present an interesting program\, including some fascinating\nphotos\, about Traveling Medicine Shows.\nKathy Herrin has spent more than two decades in the Criminal Justice field. She took a break\, of\nalmost two years\, to serve as the Director of Academic Services at the Fremont Campus of\nPueblo Community College. She returned to the Probation Department in March 2017. Past\nprobation work included two years as the Victim Services Officer in Pueblo and about two years\nsupervising offenders. Prior to her Probation career\, Herrin was with the Cañon City Police\nDepartment\, where some of her duties included Field Training for new officers\, Crisis\nNegotiation and Crime Prevention and Victim Assistance.\nThe Pikes Peak Historical Society invites you to learn more about the Old Time Traveling\nMedicine Shows at the PPHS monthly Chautauqua on Sunday\, May 20th at 2pm at the Florissant\nLibrary. The Library is located adjacent to the Florissant Community Park on 334 Circle Drive in\nFlorissant. This program is presented as a public service of the Pikes Peak Historical Society in\npartnership with the Rampart Range Library System. Admission is free and refreshments are\nserved. No reservation is required but arrive early\, seating is limited. For more information call\n719-748-8259 or 719-748-3861. \n
